Louisville Shared SQL Hosting FAQ

This is a collection of frequently asked questions about the Shared Microsoft SQL 2000 product. If you have more questions about Peak 10's Shared Microsoft SQL 2000 Servers please call (502) 315-6000

What kind of support is offered?

Peak 10 is selling the hosting of MS-SQL and cannot support MS-SQL functionality. Hosting support from Peak 10 includes ensuring the database is up and running and all servers are functional and accepting connections.

While Peak 10 is planning to offer Support Plans (from Microsoft Partners) in the future, if you wish to purchase additional support today, we recommend using a remote DBA (Database Administrator) service of any of a number of professional service providers

Can I move my SQL database to my own SQL server and run it from my own machine if I choose to in the future?

Yes. You can export your data and transfer it to another SQL server.

If I have a problem with my database and lose data, how can I restore it?

Call one of our Customer Service Representatives at 502-315-6015. Restores are charged on an hourly basis.

How often do you backup my data?

Your entire database is backed up daily.

How secure is my data? For example, can I confidently store credit card information?

Peak 10 Hosted Databases uses standard Windows SQL database security. You can confidently store credit card or customer information without concern.

I just dropped a very important table. Can I get it back?

Yes. Contact support for help.

Can I implement data constraints?

Yes. You can configure these using the Microsoft Query Analyzer using SQL statements into your database, or use SQL Manager to assign them to your table.

Why can't I insert any rows into my table?

Ensure you're supplying data for all columns marked NOT NULL

Make sure your format is correct and that you are using single or double quotation marks where required. For example:

• The correct date format is: "06/01/01"
• The correct text format is: "101 Elm Street"
• The correct number format is: 64.9
